About Us

The Optimist Club of Deerfield is one of over 2,500 clubs worldwide dedicated to “bringing out the best in kids”.  Optimist International is recognized as the premier volunteer organization that values all children and helps them develop to their full potential.   The Optimist motto is “Friend of Youth”, and we have been serving the Deerfield community since 1972.

Our hope is to support our local youth and encourage them to discover the joy in helping others.  As Optimists, we try to do so with an upbeat attitude and a pride in serving our community that sets a positive example for our kids.

Optimist Creed

Promise Yourself…

    1. To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.
    1. To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet.
    1. To make all your friends feel that there is something in them.
    1. To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.
    1. To think only of the best, to work only for the best, and to expect only the best.
    1. To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.
    1. To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
    1. To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.
    1. To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.
  1. To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
