Optimist Club of Deerfield
The Optimist Club of Deerfield offers several scholarship awards to students selected for its “Volunteer Service Award.” This program is designed to recognize volunteer service activities and is not based on grade attainment or financial need. Awards may range up to $1,000 to a single recipient.
The following requirements are effective for this award year:
- A qualified student must be a student who attends Deerfield High School and participates in volunteer service to the community or the high school.
- The applicant must currently be a senior.
- “Service to the Community” is defined as a voluntary, uncompensated effort benefiting a non-profit organization or individuals.
- The applicant is required to submit a narrative describing his/her activities, experiences and the impact of their volunteer service. Additional information may be found on the application.
- Applicants must submit a letter of recommendation from the organization that supports their volunteer service. The letter(s) of recommendation must be in original sealed envelope(s) with the adult sponsor’s signature across the seal. They may be sent directly to the Optimist Club or they may be included in your application package.
- The recipient of an award must show evidence of acceptance for post secondary education such as a junior college, traditional college/university, trade or vocational education or training.
- The Scholarship Committee of The Optimist Club of Deerfield is the only judge of these awards and all decisions are final.
- Transcripts and financial information are not required for this application.
- DHS students submit the required information through the “going merry” app.
