We are very excited to tell you about this new initiative.
A few months ago, Optimist International met with the International Presidents of Rotary and Lions Clubs, and the Secretary General of Junior Chamber International (JCI) in Chicago to seeks areas of synergies and service to our communities. Since our meeting, 8 other service organizations have joined to strongly highlight the value and programs that over 70,000 service/civic Clubs provide.
From the meeting, a plan to conduct an International Week of Service was proposed, for all Service Clubs around the globe to conduct a project during the week of March 25-31 serving their communities and children. This is the first year of hopefully many years of partnerships.
The International Week of Service is a chance for service organizations around the globe to partner with one another to make a big difference in their communities. Participating is easy! Invite a local service organization to help with your previously scheduled service project during the last week of March, or start working with an organization and plan an event together. Make sure to share all your photos and stories with us here and on your social media pages using the hashtag #weekofservice2017. Visit https://weekofservice.org/ for more info!
