Back to School Voucher Program The Optimist Club of Deerfield works with the West Deerfield Township government to provide vouchers for any family that meets the criteria. This enables children to buy items such as backpacks, coats, boots, shoes, and other items necessary to start school.

Christmas Tree Sale – All Optimist Club members participate in the Christmas Tree sale that  is held from the Friday after Thanksgiving until two days before Christmas.  Proceeds from this sale are used to fund the yearly activities of the Optimist club. All proceeds go back to the youth of our community.

DARE – (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) Members of The Optimist Club volunteer to assist the Deerfield Police Department with a drug awareness poster and essay contest.

Essay Contest – The Optimist Club of Deerfield, in coordination with the North Suburban Special Education District, hosts a banquet for special education children who have completed an essay on a topic provided by the Optimist Club. Certificates are presented to all participating students and prizes, provided by the Optimist Club, are presented to those students that submitted the “Best of Class” essays.

Family Days – The Optimist Club members volunteer to help with selling items for both the Family Days Festival on July 3 and July 4 in Deerfield.

Great Lakes Scrip  is a fundraising program for the Optimist Club of Deerfield. Participants can purchase gift cards or e-cards to over 700 retailers and the Optimist Club receives rebates of 2-17% of the card value.  Visit www.shopwithscrip.com for a list of participating retailers. Halloween Hoopla – The Optimist Club members volunteer to assist the Park District by selling food during Halloween Hoopla.

Scholarship Program –  The Optimist Club of Deerfield provides scholarships to seniors at Deerfield High School who have exhibited a high level of volunteer community service.  Contact us to learn more.

Week of Service  The International Week of Service is a chance for service organizations around the globe to partner with one another to make a big difference in their communities. Participating is easy! Invite a local service organization to help with your previously scheduled service project during the last week of March.
